St. John’s Capital Region to be Represented at Offshore Northern Seas 2026 in Norway

Later this month, representatives from the St. John’s Capital Region will travel to Stavanger, Norway as part of the Atlantic Canada delegation attending Offshore Northern Seas (ONS) 2026.

Held every two years, ONS is one of the energy sector’s major international gatherings. The event brings together companies, governments, industry associations, researchers, and decision-makers to discuss the future of offshore energy, emerging technologies, and the evolving global energy landscape.

Advantage St. John’s will join partners including the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Government of Nova Scotia, and Energy NL as part of the Atlantic Canada presence at the event. The delegation provides an opportunity to share the capabilities of the region while building relationships with companies involved in offshore operations, engineering, marine services, energy technology, and supply chain development.

Newfoundland and Labrador’s offshore industry is an important part of Canada’s energy story. As noted in Energy NL’s Offshore Oil & Gas Industry Facts, the province’s four major offshore projects produce approximately 25 per cent of Canada’s conventional light crude oil. Energy NL also notes that more than $20 billion in offshore royalties have been paid to the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador since production began in 1997.

The St. John’s Capital Region has played a significant role in supporting that industry for decades. Local companies contribute expertise across engineering, logistics, environmental services, marine operations, digital technologies, fabrication, and technical consulting. Those capabilities continue to evolve alongside new opportunities in offshore development and energy innovation.
